MAILBAG

I made this mailbag and mail for the grandchildren to play with, and they have enjoyed it. I found the backpack at a second hand store and sewed the word MAIL and star buttons on it. The cards and postcards are made of felt, also the envelopes. I did double the felt on the cards to make them more durable, and I sewed around the edges with a blanket stitch. I used felt pieces and embroidery to make the designs, and google sew-on eyes for the eyes. The patterns and inside messages appear below.

SCISSORS HOLDER

My sister pinned an idea like this on Pinterest and it made me immediately want to make one, so I did. I just used scraps of whatever I had on hand. I only sewed the back of the basket to the bunny to anchor it, and I put pipe cleaners in the ears to make them stand up and hold their shape. I think I may have enough room in this to add a measuring tape on the right side.
I really never expected to make a scissors holder, but I liked the idea of it brightening my sewing box, because I do quite a bit of hand sewing.
(Because this isn't my own idea, I didn't include a pattern, but you can go to the site on Pinterest.)

SEWING MACHINE COVER

I actually saw this on Pinterest, and it appealed to me because I have been wanting a sewing machine cover, and my machine did not come with one. There is really no pattern for this, because machines can be different sizes, but  I measured what I needed to make a rectangle and went from there, using extra wide double fold bias tape around the edges. I bought 1/2 yard of quilted material and had a small amount left over. The one I saw was tied at the sides with ribbon, into a bow, but if you notice the detail in the second picture you will see that I sewed a button on one side and doubled ribbon on the other. The ribbon wraps around the button to close it.
I might have chosen a floral pastel pattern for this had it not been for the fact that I already made a thread catcher out of this material, so I decided to match it. That and the reason that much of the quilted material is only sold in baby quilt sized panels. I did cut my material in half and then sewed it together to make the pattern be right-side up on both sides.
I actually would have preferred a sewing machine case, but this works since I don't have one, and it worked up fairly quickly.

EASTER CARDS

I make cards for the holidays sometimes, usually just for my children, mother and a friend who is in a care center. This year's Easter cards turned out to have some variation, because I was using left-over Easter paper from last year. It doesn't really show here, but the background of the far right card is light green, so the bunny shows up better on the actual card.  I kind of liked the whimsy of a bunny hatching out of the egg instead of a chick. :)

EGGS-TRA FUN :)

I found some Easter material that I liked, so I made some Easter napkins. ( I actually had the idea to do these several years ago.) Then I had the idea to buy wood eggs and paint them like the eggs on the napkins.I used acrylic paints and sprayed it with a clear gloss. I did use some artistic license in painting the eggs, they aren't exact copies from the napkin print. Sometimes I put these in a small Easter basket I have; sometimes I put the eggs in the bottom of a clear glass vase and put fake Calla lilies in the vase. I am glad I did these, because they have been fun at Easter.

BABIES BOOK

This is my latest cloth book for the babies. (I always make two.) It's easier to take pictures before I sew the pages into the cover. These babies are felt, and the pages are heavy pellon. I have used buttons, beads, ribbon and embroidery for the details. The trick is to use what you already have on hand, if you can. At times I have used patterned felt. I brush powdered blush onto the babies' cheeks. I have frayed the yarn to make finer hair.

This is the cover. I used regular cloth with a pellon insert to stiffen it.
Patterns ( I realized I forgot to fix the arm on the hugging baby. Please do make the arms the same size. :s)
