LAUNDRY REMINDER BOARD

I have several items that need special laundering, such as line dry shirts. I am always afraid I will throw one into the dryer one day and decided I needed a reminder board. I had seen boards with tin on them at the second hand store quite often, so went there looking for something. What I found instead was this wood frame ( never used nor painted) and a piece of tin that fits the back of it. I have a whole bag of little wood pieces that my youngest daughter found at a yard sale for me, so used some of that to make the magnets. (The magnets were also in that bag my daughter found me.) I made 3 magnets to fir my laundering needs : Lay flat, Line dry, and Dry with tennis balls. When I have an item that needs one of those instructions, I will put the magnet on the washer as a reminder. I haven't attached the tin piece yet, but when I do, I will be excited to put this in my laundry room.
I painted this with acrylic paints, and spray coated it with a clear acrylic finish.

DOC MCSTUFFINS' BIG BOOK OF BOO BOOS

Sometimes I get these little bees in my bonnet and make things like this. :) I had the idea to make the Big Book of Boo Boos for an almost  2 year old granddaughter who is crazy about Doc McStuffins right now, and this is what I came up with:

This is a little purple notebook I bought at WalMart for 97 cents. I had some glittery hearts from last year's valentine project, which came in a package from the Dollar Tree.

I copied these on cardstock, cut them into pieces for the pages and glued them in. I did not glue anything on the backs of the pages. Also, the cardstock does not fill the page, so if you want it to, run off the pictures, cut them out and position them onto typing paper for your master. You can also just use paper, but I wanted the pages a little stiffer since my granddaughter is young.

I did some pictures at the end that don't have a diagnosis on them, but the others are actually Doc's names for the condition. I had fun with this and decided to share with anyone else who might be interested in doing this.

LITTLE GIRLS' APRON

I went yard-saling today and found a yard of pink and white checked material for $1. I decided to make aprons from it to match the little kitchen play set my granddaughter inherited from her cousins who have outgrown it.
I don't know how to make a pattern to download for this, but you can pretty much see how it is done by the picture. I did double the cloth when I cut it out and sewed around the edges, leaving the hem to turn it all right side out. Then I hemmed it. I sewed the straps and pocket afterwards, and added flower buttons at the top and a ladybug button on the pocket for fun. The straps at the waist and the strap around the neck are the same length.

MY VALENTINE 2015

I got the main idea from a Pinterest post and then I made a few changes. The XOXO is cut out (I have punches) and the back of it is silver paper. I buy sparkly dollar store gift bags to cut up for my cards, and that is heart and small hearts.

CHRISTMAS SCRAPBOOKS

Years ago I was at a friend's during the Christmas season, and saw a scrapbook she had made. She had covered a 3-ring binder with cloth (slightly padded) and made pages of family photos and the Christmas card photos for each Christmas for many years,
I loved it so much I made my  own, scrounging past pictures and cards the best I could. I also make my own Christmas cards and include one of those. I have filled 2 books now, and just finished making a 3rd for next year's Christmas (although I couldn't find Christmas material anywhere so opted for this dark blue with stars) and I thought I'd enjoy the idea. I used a yard of material, which allowed me to make a cover that sips over the ends like a book jacket. Leave enough seam allowance and sew in your padding, such as a heavy pellon, as you go. Scrapbook the pages any way you wish,but I always do mine with the aim to fit as much on a page as I can, and if I have 2-sided photo cards, I put them into clear page protectors just like that. 
I do use clear page protectors on every page, though. I also cut up other Christmas cards and use pieces of them here and there in the little empty spaces that won't hold anything else.
We love these books that hold so many wonderful memories of friends and family.

WOOD CALENDAR

Someone came to me quite a few years ago and told me she wanted a wood calendar. Her dad had offered to make 3 of them and if I would paint his and hers, I could have the 3rd one for me, so I made them a deal that I would, and this is the result. The numbers and special squares all side in and you change the month and days each month. I pretty much quit using this when my kids left home, so we had a family drawing for those who wanted it. There may be a day in the future when I add patterns, but I free handed these and don't have any right now. But I thought I'd let people take a look at it.

FLAT FELT DOLLS

These are on the order of paper dolls, only they are made of felt. If you want to stiffen them up, cut out a body pattern from a plastic lid, such as what you find on a shortening can, but you cut it enough smaller that you can stitch the outsides together. I have drawn basic patterns and you can embellish them as you wish. These are "sister dolls". The baby's bottle is from a package of tiny bottles I found in the baby shower section at the dollar store.
